New Look for CDC's Public Testee Booking Service
Article, January 2005
When 23-year-old David Tan stepped into ComfortDelGro Driving
Centre (CDC) on 8th October 2004, to register for his Basic
Theory Test as a public testee, he was pleasantly surprised to
see a new office called Admin Service Centre waiting for him.
Instead of the long and winding queues, rows of pretty
pastel-colored chairs adorned the new registration centre.
This is because CDC had taken over the public testees'
booking services from the Traffic Police (TP) Authority. The
transfer, which took place in September 2004, is part of TP's
initiative to move into computerised testing.
To cater to additional demand for their services, CDC's
Customer Service team has had to learn new skills as well as to
work more efficiently to ensure that waiting times are kept to a
minimum. But they are not complaining.
As CDC's Senior Customer Service Officer, Evelyn briefly
summed up: "The volume of transactions had increased two-fold,
but fortunately we were able to expedite the counter service
with the help of additional manpower deployed during the peak
hours. Our security guard even doubled up as an usher to lead
public testees to the correct counters."
